Rosewater is a product that is used in a number of ways because of its innumerable benefits to the skin. It can be used as a toner, setting spray and also to reduce dark circles. Rosewater provides a soothing effect to eyes. It is considered to be a mild astringent which helps in treating eye infections. Applying rose water helps in reducing under eye puffiness instantly.
How to use
Dip 2 cotton balls in slightly cold rose water. Apply these cotton balls over your closed eyelids and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
2.Cold Spoon Compress
Applying something that is cool over the eyes helps in shrinking the blood vessels around the eyes. They help in relieving tired and puffy eyes.
How to use
Keep a spoon in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes. Place the back of the spoon over your closed eyelids for 10 minutes. It might sting a little bit but that’s an indication that it’s working.
3.Green tea bags
Green teas are known for their antioxidant properties. They have anti-inflammatory properties which help in treating dry and tired eyes caused by stress. Green tea bags when applied over eyes helps in soothing strained blood vessels and enhances the blood circulation around the eyes.
How to use
Soak 2 green tea bags in water and keep them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Apply these cold green tea bags over your eyes for 15-20 minutes and wash your eyes thoroughly with water.
Cucumber is always in everybody’s list to treat dark circles and it is worth the hype. Cucumbers are known to have anti-inflammatory properties that help in reducing eye puffiness. They have a very high water content that in turn helps in hydrating the areas around the eyes. They are high in Vitamin K which helps in improving blood circulation around the eyes, therefore, reducing dark circles.
How to use
Slice the cucumber in round shape and place 2 slices in the fridge to allow it to cool for about 15 minutes. Apply these slices over your closed eyelids for 15 minutes.
Tomatoes are rich in lycopene which is known to provide a soft and healthy glow to the skin. When applied over the eyelids it helps in reducing the appearance of dark circles. Tomatoes also contain skin lightening properties which will help in treating the dark circles very effectively.
How to use
Place 2 slices of tomatoes over closed eyes. Let it sit for 20 minutes and then thoroughly rinse your eyes with water.
6.Use a good quality eye cream
Always include a good quality under eye cream in your skincare routine. The area around our eyes is very delicate and need utmost care. Make sure to hydrate your under eye area because if it lacks moisture it will cause the skin around our eyes to dry out making the appearance of dark circles more prominent.
7.Drink adequate amount of water
Drinking adequate amount of water helps in flushing out toxins and also hydrating our body thus helping us reduce under eye dark circles.
8.Massage under-eye area
Regularly massaging the under eye area helps in stimulating blood flow and prevent the blood from stagnating at one place under the eyes. Apply a good quality eye cream/oil/serum and massage the area around the eyes. Make sure you massage in the correct way.
9.Apply a sunscreen
Before heading out in the sun make sure you’ve applied a good quality sunblock because exposure to the sun causes the breakdown of collagen production which results in the early appearance of dark circles.
10.An adequate amount of sleep
Lastly, but the most important remedy is to have a good 8 hours of sleep. Nothing will work until and unless you correct your sleeping pattern and have a good night sleep. You’ll start noticing your dark circles fading away once you correct your sleeping habits.
Make sure you are consistent in using these remedies because consistency is the key. Home remedies take time to show its results so do not despair if you don’t start seeing results within a few days.
