YSL Matt Touch Compact Foundation Review

YSL Matt Touch Compact Foundation

Hello beauties, today’s review is again going to be about a YSL product that I love using. It is the YSL Matt Touch Compact Foundation with SPF 20/PA++.I prefer using it more as a compact. Let me tell you I have used it both ways, as a foundation and a compact and would be telling you about my experience with both the methods.

YSL Matt Touch Compact Foundation – Packaging

YSL Matt Touch Compact Foundation

It comes in a luxurious gold coloured cardboard box and has an extra velvet cloth packaging on it. And I threw both of them. So, won’t be able to show those pictures. Talking about this compact foundation, the brand name is embossed on the golden square-shaped box which makes it look very luxurious. It has two compartments, one for the compact and beneath it to store the sponge applicator. I find it very hygienic as it avoids the sponge applicator to be in continuous contact with the compact.

YSL Matt Touch Compact Foundation – Texture

This compact foundation is finely milled and is slightly talc-like which has fine granules. It is super blendable and has YSL engraved on the compact as well.

YSL Matt Touch Compact Foundation – Review

So, my sister gifted me this compact foundation and we all know that this brand is not available in India presently. During summers my T zone becomes super oily so I just can’t think of skipping my compact.

Let’s dive into how it fared

As a compact

I use my makeup brush to apply it as a compact and ditch the sponge applicator. This compact gives a very natural and airbrushed effect after application. It minimises the appearance of my pores up to a great extent and does not give a whitish cast also. The best part is it did not clog my pores and neither did it break me out. It controls oil production for up to 5 hours which I feel is really great.

This compact helps in reducing the appearance of my mother’s fine lines and wrinkles very well. I was a bit sceptical that it could make my skin look dry but it gives a wonderful matte finish without accentuating dry areas. It absorbs all trace of oil leaving behind a flawless and matte finish without drying out my skin. It increases the wear time of my foundation and does not make my face look oily for more than 5 hours.

Coming to using it as a foundation

I had used the sponge applicator present in it. Make sure that you use a damp sponge applicator to increase the coverage of any powder foundation. What I felt is that it is not highly pigmented to cover my acne scars and blemishes. If you are a person who has minor scars then this compact foundation would definitely give a natural look to your face. Otherwise, you’ll have to use a foundation to get that full coverage. The wear time of this compact foundation is not very high as I could see that my blemishes were visible after few hours(2-3 hrs) of application.

The best part about this compact foundation is that it has an SPF of 20 which makes it a great option during the scorching summer weather.

It mentions that it is refillable meaning that it can be refilled once finished. You’ll get it at a less price(which I think is not possible for me cuz I’ll have to travel all the way from India to get it refilled).

To conclude I prefer using it more as a compact than as a foundation. The reason behind it is because I have dark acne scars.
I love using it as a compact but people with minor acne scars would love it both ways.

Final Thoughts

This is one of my favourite compacts. But I won’t consider repurchasing it again considering the amount that I’ll have to pay for it. Instead I’ll prefer investing it in skincare products that will provide long term benefits to my skin.
If the price is not an issue then you should definitely purchase it again.
